So. Worth. It. Extremely light and crispy batter with a juicy inside. It’s hard to write this review without being biased cause my favorite tonkatsu place is 黒かつ亭 in Kagoshima. But. Dare I even say this place is up there in the ranks. Unlimited refills on rice and salad. English menu also available. Usually a wait, so get there early if you can. Staff were quick, attentive, and friendly. Definitely stop by here if you’re in the area.

Very nice Tonkatsu restaurant. If you are not familiar like I was, try it! It is high quality premium pork combined with fresh spices.The restaurant provides an English menu card if needed. But also the crew is very helpful in explaining or answering questions. An absolute must try if you are around in Kumamoto

Everything was fine - food, service, ambience but as has happened before we should have checked serve sizes as we could have shared one Zen set of katsu pork between us and we ended up eating too much (whilst still leaving some I might add). So not their fault but our enjoyment was diminished.

Ordered the Atsuage kurobuta tonkatsu. Best tonkatsu I’ve ever tried in Japan, even better than the famous Butagumi and Maisen in Tokyo. It’s also cheaper! Queue can be long but due to the bigger space, turnover seems pretty fast. Must eat when you’re in Kumamoto!!

This is an incredible Japanese fried cuisine restaurant. Excellent service and delicious friend pork set. If you come with baby or kids together, they have kuma bear baby seat and baby bed for you.

The best tonkatsu I ever had in my life. I'd return to this city just for this tonkatsu! I ordered a set of Atsuage Moriawasen Zen (two type of thick port cutlet: loin & fillet) [2050Â¥] and a set of Ebi Furai Zen (3 fried prawns) [1500Â¥]. Both pork cutlet and fried prawns are perfect! Grated daikon radish and pickled vegetables are provided.

I really recommend the ginger pork. The very famous tonkatsu (fried pork chops), however, is a bit too fat for me.

Soo delicious. Tonkatsu is flakey and light. It comes with a bunch of pickled vegetables and a spicy mustard which all help to cut the richness. Really liked the prawn and pork cutlet set for some variety. Miss soup was great too. You can grind up sesame seeds to taste for the sauce. Prices not bad, we spent about ¥4000 for 2 sets and a beer.

The best Kurobuta pork cuttle menu that I have tried. Staff is really helpfull cause I bring a 22 other cyclist for lunch, the staff escorted us to a bike parking space near the restaurant and then place us in some smaller group so they can serve us ASAP.We love Japanese efficiency and fast reaction.Food taste great and yummy, portion is so so big that I almost can't finish it.Will be back

Pro : Marvelous both Kurobuta Katsudon n Service. Miso soup, rice, veggies are free of charge all through your meal. Very Clean Toilet room indeed like everywhere in Japan! (Opposite to China LOL)Con: 10% service charge from your order. Not so fair for a not very rich guy like me. After all, Superb Restaurant in Kumamoto!

Ordered the premium tonkatsu and ebi-furai set (JPY 3400). I can safely say this is the best tonkatsu I've ever eaten. The pork is succulent and juicy while the skin is perfectly crisp. I like eating it with just salt but the sauces are pretty delicious as well. Highly recommended and I think this will suit the palate of many people.

I have been here twice. First visit was two years ago. When I visited this restaurant this month again, I found the donkatsu tastes were just as flawless as before. We ordered sirloin and tenderloin, both of them were too good to compare to each other. This is a must-go if you are planning trips to Kumamoto.

One of the best, if not the best tonkatsu i had. Ordered kurobuta pork loin set, it comes with the usual cabbage, rice and miso soup as sides but also a self serve preserved salted veg, a dish of pickled veg and a bowl of Daikon. The serving was generous and the batter of tonkatsu is light and crispy which doesn't leave the oily after taste. Highly recommended restaurant in Kumamoto.

Go there each and every time when I'm in Kumamoto. The best pork chop in town. Juicy and tender and HUGE porkchop, the breading is so crunchy yet soft, not greasy at all. Unlimited refill of shredded cabbage if so you wish. The shrimp were also tasty. Try both if you can. The rice and other side dishes are just as good!

The best tonkatsu meal in the world! Ok, I might be exaggerating a little here but compared to the others that I had tried before, this is the best! I ordered the "atsuage kurobuta" tonkatsu set. When it was initially served, the first bite is heaven. The taste is excellent 👌 and the texture of the meat is very succulent. The crispy breadcrumbs and the fat of the meat, are beautifully matched.Japanese white rice, miso soup and cabbages were also served along with the dish. A set of sauces were also served and they actually teach you how to grind the roasted sesame into semi-powder form and mixes it with a sauce, that I do not the name but it is an excellent condiment for the tonkatsu.The rice, cabbages and Miso soup were unlimited but I could not go past two bowls / serving as the food are very heavy. So it is a great place to go to if you are famished!Last but not least, this is Michelin restaurant, so be sure to bring enough cash or a credit card to match the prices!

Great taste bbq pork chop with very fair price, harmony dining environment. You really can’t expect any possible better point in such a cosy dining night with that perfect food and warm service. Super recommended

Popular tonkatsu restaurant in Kumamoto. The portion is very big. Order a smaller portion if you are not a big eater. Even the smaller portion is enough for 2 persons to share. The roast katsu is tenderer than the tenderloin.

Lovely place for lunch.went there with 4 adults and one 3 year old. Ordered 3 meals and fill all of us up. Very family friendly.

Affordable Michelin star restaurant. Sets come with free flow of miso soup and rice. You must sprinkle your freshly granted sesame over the rice. Wonderful aroma and the light nutty flavour lifts the rice. Also must try - the yuzu sorbet. Never had anything like it. The sesame desert was wonderfully rich.

No wonder it's still worth 4.3 rate even more than 1000 reviews! This is absolutely the best fried pork chop in my life. It tastes like steak. Tenderloin is like sirloin, and loin is like ribeye. Portion is big, want to come back again!

Good tonkatsu and the restaurant has lots of seats so the wait is not too long. Lunch sets in Japanese menu is cheaper than the English menu though.

Good service. One of the best Tonkatsu I’ve ever had in my life. Worth every penny you spend. Ebi (additional 700 yen) is also very good. Better starve yourself before you get here because the portion is huge!
